Description
The Advisory Group is co-led by the
Kansas Department of Health and Environment's (KDHE)
Healthcare-Associated Infections and Antimicrobial Resistance Program (HAI-AR Program) and
KFMC Health Improvement Partners. Membership is comprised of subject-matter experts from a broad spectrum of disciplines, healthcare settings and services, in both human and animal health. Subcommittees meet to coordinate statewide antimicrobial stewardship and healthcare-associated infections prevention activities.

Subcommittees
Antimicrobial Stewardship
The purpose of this subcommittee is to promote, through a targeted approach, antimicrobial stewardship principles and practices among providers and consumers.
Pharmacy Antibiotic Stewardship Taskforce
The purpose of this subcommittee is to educate and incorporate community pharmacies and patients to promote appropriate antimicrobial prescribing throughout the state of Kansas.
Detection and Outbreak Response
The purpose of this subcommittee is to identify and develop practices and tools for improving the detection of outbreaks, and implementing effective outbreak responses, for both the HAI/AR Program and infection prevention programs at healthcare facilities.
Infection Prevention and Control
The purpose of this subcommittee is to identify, develop and promote resources for infection prevention programs at healthcare facilities, so they can implement effective programs, stay up-to-date with standards, and have the tools necessary to implement practices.
Multi-Drug Resistant Organisms
The purpose of this subcommittee is to evaluate current strategies for addressing antimicrobial resistance including surveillance and strategic planning for the emergence of novel and targeted MDROs and promote a multidisciplinary approach to combat antimicrobial resistance with an emphasis on OneHealth.
